How do I use the Clipping Mask feature?

Corjl Legacy Designs

Design which have transferred over from the previous version of Corjl are called Legacy Designs and will continue to work as they did previously. This includes the Clipping Mask feature. In these designs, Clipping Masks will continue to use a Corjl Shape or Text as the clipping mask base layer. The image being clipped to the shape mask or text will need to be placed in the layer above the shape or text and the clipping mask can then be applied by right-clicking on the image layer name and selecting Create Clipping Mask.

Corjl 2.0 Clipping Masks

The new version of the Clipping Mask feature will be available in newly created designs in the Corjl 2.0 platform. In this version, any image can be used as the shape to create a clipping mask—it does not need to be a Corjl provided shape.

To create a clipping mask with an image, right-click on the image you want to use for the mask shape and select Make Clipping Mask.

Once this feature has been enabled for the image, simply click and drag the desired image you want clipped over the mask image until you see it appear inside the mask image. The image will be placed so it fills the entire mask image area.

Other tips:

  • Double-click on the image to adjust the size or position of the clipped image.

  • To replace the clipped image, drag the new image over the existing image and it will be automatically replaced.
  • To release the image from the clipping mask, right-click and select Clipping Mask > Release Clipping Mask.
  • To prevent a customer from being able to replace the image being used with the clipping mask, but still be able to move or resize the clipping mask, right click and select Clipping Mask > Lock Clipping Mask.
  • To turn off the clipping mask feature for the image mask, right-click on the image and de-select the Make Clipping Mask option.

Clipping Mask for Text

Clipping masks using Text as the mask work pretty much the same way: right-click to select Make Clipping Mask to turn "on" the mask, then drag the image you want over the top of the text until it fits.

However, adjusting the image is a bit different, because double-clicking on the text allows you to edit the text.

For text clipping masks, the image being clipped to the text can be resized and adjusted by clicking on the small “image” icon button that appears above the text when selected:
